A Bit About Me

Daniela grew up in Venezuela, where she spent most of her childhood. She moved to Athens, Georgia, as a teenager with her family in search of a better future.  Daniela began her career in education with Teach For America in Atlanta upon graduating from the University of Georgia. After teaching and completing her master's degree in Educational Administration and Policy in Georgia, she moved to Texas with her husband, where she worked as a teacher and school principal about a decade. After her work at the school level, she decided to transition to the district level, where she gained insight into educational and non-profit systems and the challenges they face. Daniela is excited to start her own consulting practice and use Rubio Consulting for Social Impact as a way to support organizations and schools that are trying to improve the community and make our lives better and more equitable.

Daniela is a connector and loves to build relationships and systems that support broader social and educational changes for her community. She is passionate about supporting young people and volunteers her time with organizations that share similar values, such as the Jolt Initiative, the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Seedling Foundation to name a few.

Daniela is a big fan of the Quetzal, a beautiful Central and South American bird, featured in our logo. She learned about this bird during her time in Panama and Costa Rica as a teenager participating in the scholarship Ruta Quetzal.

Teacher- During these years, Daniela learned invaluable lessons about patience, adaptability, and the power of building meaningful relationships with students. Teaching also deepened her understanding of the broader educational system and inspired her to advocate for equity and access.

School Leader - As an assistant principal, Daniela gained valuable experience in leadership, student discipline, and academic planning. Her time at the high school level sharpened her skills in conflict resolution, team management, and strategic decision-making.
One of her proudest achievements was establishing the district’s Pre-K program as elementary school principal, which expanded from serving 80 students in 2019 to over 300 by 2024. This program was recognized as an HEB Excellence in Education Finalist in 2022, reflecting the quality and impact of the initiative. Through this work, Daniela reinforced her commitment to early childhood education.

Chief Community Officer - Daniela led and managed external relationships, family engagement, parent education, and student recruitment for charter school district, resulting in significant enrollment growth from 1,500 students in 2020 to 2,800 in 2024. She was in charge of multiple departments, including Talent Acquisition, Communications, Development and Fundraising, and Human Resources. Daniela spearheaded the creation of district-wide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and established a school-based mental health department. Working with some many different people and departments allowed Daniela to have a deeper understanding of systems and the importance of those systems working in equilibrium to ensure the mission of the organization is clear and intact.
